Go green?

I think that being "green" it is a lifestyle, but it is hard to keep it. I have learnt about environmentally friendly practices from my "green" friends. They taught me how to save energy and food, for example. So now I just use candles, just kidding, but I am more conscious about turning off things. I have watched TV series for children with my nephew where we have learnt so practices as save water when we are cleaning our teeth. It was hard at the beginning to do, but I want that my nephew grows in a better world so I make the effort (because it means a change to me) to show my little girl how to live being friendly with the environment. Another way to change my habits had been to use a bicycle, not all the time, because the traffic is tragic in Santiago, but I do on weekends when it's safe to use it. It is a good exercise by the way; when I got home after ride my bike my legs thank me the activity. Using a bike it’s a benefit to the environment but for our body and health too.

Although I believe in green lifestyle I have never joined to a organization related with this. I barely have time to visit my family to do it. Besides I have making some changes in my life to support this "green" movement.

What I would like to do it is to have my own farm, but I don't have time to take care of it. I know it means a compromise very important. I had no idea what is a carbon footprint but, I just made a little research and I think it is not that much because I don't have a car and I don't have any factory.

I think that Santiago needs more bicycle tracks and parking to make easier the life of the people who is trying to carry out this environmentally friendly practice.
